Scream is currently in production on a pilot episode for a TV series to debut on MTV allegedly this summer. There is very little information on this project, which leads me to think this summer may not be the actual target date, and its currently unclear how much of the show if any will be based off of the Four Scream films. Wes Craven is directing the pilot, so that is always a positive sign. However, I am unsure about this as a TV series, especially on MTV. I've read that one angle was going to be just a new series completely unrelated to the movies, which I think could be ok. It would give the series its own identity to an extent. I also have read that they may go in the direction of Ghostface being supernatural, where he is an actual ghost coming back to kill people. That seems much more far fetched, but we have to wait to hear more about it. Sounds like they are going to see what kind of fanfare they get from the pilot and go from there. To me, the fact that I do not see much about a show that is being released this summer says something about where they are at with it. Hopefully it does well, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
