Friday the 13th TV show!?!?!

So a Friday the 13th TV show has been confirmed and in production, taking a look at Jason growing up in Crystal Lake. My question is why does this sound like a good idea? Is it because Rob Zombie decided to go that route with Halloween? His movie was not well accepted by fans of the franchise, and that was just 2 movies. You're talking about a TV show with the same type of scenario. I liked the 1st Rob Zombie Halloween movie because it was a different take on the franchise. But Jason's background is already well known. He was tormented as a kid and forced to drown with no help from campers. That's it, nothing more is needed. I'm currently not on board for a Friday the 13th TV show, It just leaves a bloody taste in my mouth(pun intended).

    isnt this the same kind of premise that they are doing with Bates Motel that you love? given then right direction, it could be successful.

    My gut feeling says this won't do well. I will admit I said the same about Bates Motel, but something tells me this is over the top. Friday the 13th had over 12 movies that went over Jason's back story. Bates only had two (if you even count the second one). There was more character develop available for Bates. I probably am wrong, but I just don't see how this show can continue further than it already has on the relationship between Jason and his mom.
